Crossroads Ministry Expansion Project
North Albany Community Church was established in 1959. At that time it was called North Albany Baptist Church. Since that time we have grown, changed our name and are at a strategic point in our history.
This purpose of this announcement is to provide a living, dynamic document designed to update you as we go through the process of redefining our purpose, vision and Strategic Ministry Plan.
Your ideas and questions are welcome. Please either our Strategic Ministry or phone Bob Long (541) 905-4134.
A Strategic Ministry Plan will identify the reasons our ministry exists (purpose), what we feel God intends our ministry to become in the future (vision), our tasks/strategy to accomplish this (mission), and what is important to those involved in the ministry (core values). The SMP Team is making an honest effort to evaluate where we currently are as a church and where we feel God is leading us for the future.
Please note that you can also listen to Pastor Denny review the Strategic Ministry Plan through the following links:Listen(Part 1 Part 2) or download (Part 1 Part 2)using Real Player
To help us facilitate this process we are working with Harvestime. To break the planning up into manageable pieces we have split up into Campus Development Planning Teams. These teams include Growth, Construction, Prayer, Communications, Programs, Tech, Land Dev, Finance and Furnishings.
Our Campus Development Planning Teams have been trained and are now meeting regularly. We have also visited other churches that have gone through this process. On Sunday, January 22, 2006 the communications team sponsored our first 'Town Hall Meeting'. In this meeting we brain-stormed ideas and brought up questions for our leadership to prayerfully consider.
The communications team is now publishing an information newsletter called 'Crossroads Gazette'. In this newsletter you will find current information on the progress that we are making in this process.
Previous months Gazettes are located here:
January 2006
February 2006
Our Strategic Ministry Growth Team Reports that there is much to be learned about our church and our community. The information provided is gathered from many sources, complied by experts and sifted through and summarized by the members of the Growth Team.
There are two versions of this report. The first is the Summary Report. This report is divided into three sections. * Church Survey from November 2005 * Community Demographics * Where We Live in the Community For those desiring more detail(it is our hope that many of you will), the Full Version(all 331 pages)is available. Contained in this report are the appendices and documents used to draw our conclusions. There is a hard copy available through the church office also.
In an effort to gain a better understanding of how we are ministering to others and the current and future needs of our congregation, the Programs Team closely examined our current ministries and evaluated potential future programs for consideration.
By completing this process we were able to analyze each of our ministries to gain an understanding of the following:
1. Each ministries definition
2. Each ministries purposes in relation to our church
3. The goals for each ministry
4. The needs for each ministry
5. Future space requirements
6. New programs for our leadership to consider
Special thanks goes to each member for all of the hard work that went into this report. To view the programs report please click here.
As mentioned above, we held our first town hall meeting last January. In that meeting questions and concerns came up. Rather than hastily responding a lot of thought has gone into this. During the past couple of months our church elders and leadership have reviewed each item and has prayerfully provided a response to each. Note – There were originally 64 questions recorded at the town hall meeting; Since many were similar, they have been grouped into 35 questions. To view these answers, please click here. |
